When I first came across Mama Pea’s blog, Peas and Thank You, I was drawn to her witty story-telling ability about her day to day shenanigans. Sarah, a devoted wife and mom of 2, pokes fun at her busy life as a mother trying to balance it all, including creating delicious vegan recipes for her family.
Oh, and did I mention that she wrote a cookbook in all her spare time?
She’s a magician that woman, a true magician.
And guess what? Today is the official release of the book by Canadian publisher Harlequin!
When Sarah asked me to be part of her Peas and Thank You Cookbook Tour, I was eager to jump aboard. Three (long) days passed before the package arrived in my mailbox. I ripped it open like the savage vegan beast that I am and I feasted my eyes over the beautiful photography, bright colours, and hilarious stories about the Pea Family.
I was no longer a loner in my kitchen. I had friends! The Pea Family was right along there with me, cracking jokes and letting the good times roll.
This beautiful Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad caught my eye and I knew it had to be in my belly pronto.
It’s packed with Pumpkin-spice roasted chickpeas, mango, strawberries, roasted almonds, fresh mint, dried cranberries, Cinnamon Vinaigrette, and more! Talk about an impeccable flavour combination, perfect for a hot summer day!
Eric and I both agreed it was a hit! How I wish that salad was in front of me right now at 11:49pm… :)
I also made Yogi Guacamole which is a high-protein guac with a secret ingredient! We enjoyed it with Mary’s crackers as a side dish.
Whenever I buy a cookbook I’m always curious what the author’s favourite recipes are, so I asked Mama Pea if she could spill the beans peas for us today!
Here’s what she shared…
1. Mama Pea’s favourite cookbook recipe: Thai Crunch Salad
2. Pea Daddy’s: Mango Cupcakes with Coconut Cream Frosting
3. Gigi’s: Cut Out Sugar Cookies
4. Lulu’s: Spaghetti & Mediterranean Lentil Meatballs
5. Pea Kitty: “She only eats cat fur. Which is the only explanation I have for the daily hairballs on my ‘dry clean only’ duvet cover.” [<– LOL]
And that is why I love Mama Pea; she cracks me up and fills my belly at the same time.
You know, they say the way to a woman’s heart is through her mind…and her stomach. Consider me smitten, Mama Pea.

Yes, Please with a pea on top! I would love to win this…looks so yummy! Crossing my fingers.
So adorable!! I love everything she makes!! I think my new 1 year old cousin and I would look very cute cooking in the kitchen with matching aprons (:
Funnily enough, or funny to me because I’m cracked. I read this post 4 days ago and was really excited to enter for a chance to win the cookbook. That’s when I saw the picture of the giveaway package and instead of reading the caption got myself all disappointed because the tote bag and apron and all couldn’t share their recipe secrets with me. I’m glad I came back to your blog today and re-read the ENTIRE article, details and all. :-))
I’m a Pea Wanna Be. Gave up processed foods so family would be healthier. I lost weight (woo hoo!). Daughter has food allergies / eczema, doc says no wheat. Daddio has eczema / doc says no dairy. I love the Pea journey because it gives me hope that even with dietary challenges we can eat yummy stuff!

Oh my. Not sure if this giveaway is still going, but if it is… count me in! So bummed that my bookstore is closing! They aren’t getting in any new books. :-( I’ll have to go to “that other one” to pick it up. :-) But I’m not sure where to get the PeaPack, so here’s hoping!
I wish I would win this cookbook!

Love your blog! It is a highlight in my day.
My car was stolen this past week along with my beloved Vita-Mix. Not sure which one I am more upset about! Would love to win the cookbook to brighten my week!
I’m recovering* from an eating disorder, I’ve been “recovered” for about three years now (it’s always a work in progress!) but there are still a lot of things I can’t digest so from necessity I developed a real passion for healthy and vegan/vegetarian cooking, my boyfriend, soon to be husband, started eating that way as well to try to lose weight and he loves it! I would love to win such an awesome cookbook that would keep him excited about healthy eating!
That’s absolutely adorable! The ‘pea pod’ of a family really seems to be present in a cookbook. I’d love to be entered myself to experience it too :)
I’d like the chance to win the cookbook if it’s not too late :) I have been searching the stores for it with no luck! Plus, it’s my birthday! Hehe
