‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!

Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!
Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!
An excerpt from the poem I wrote, titled “The Way She Sees Me”:
In my daughter’s eyes, it does not matter how much I weigh.
All that matters is that I’m fast enough to keep up, have enough energy to play endless games, and at the end of the day, strong enough to rock her to sleep.
Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace.
-Albert Schweitzer
something i’ve learned, especially recently, is that a shift in my own attitude can turn a not so great situation into something much more bearable.
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that life is too short to be far away from those you love. Visit often and spend time with your friends and family as much as possible. That life lesson is based off a John Mayer song, 3×5. It’s about living in the moment and being with the people you care about during life experiences!
I’ve learned you just need to love yourself. If you can’t, you’ll never be happy or satisfied with yourself! And… Enjoy the little things in life, they’re what really count.
My favorite quote is from Randy Pausch in The Last Lecture: “The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”
It reminds me to keep pushing because it’ll only make me stronger.
“Failure is not defeat until YOU STOP TRYING.” I’ve been pursuing a particular running goal for two years now, without success. Every time I think about quitting and doing something else, I think about this. And I enter another race. One of these days, that elusive time will be mine!
Thanks for doing this giveaway!
A lesson I’ve learned in the last year or so is that we are never stagnant, we are always changing. And hopefully changing for the better. I hope I never feel perfect – that would be boring!
Make sure you got your little makeup and earring on before you walk out that door, You never know who you are going to run into. My mom

I’ve learned to be nice to everyone because you never know who might help you out later on!
I would LOVE to win!!! :)
I have struggled with my weight for years.
A couple years ago, when I suffered with an eating disorder and constant yo-yo dieting, I stood on the scale each morning and told myself – “just lose 5 more pounds and then you will feel happier”. I wouldn’t allow myself to do the things I wanted until I lost that, but by each time that I had lost that amount, I would say it again. So in turn, I never really got to do any of the things I always dreamed of. I threw away years of my life this way.
But at the beginning of this year I promised myself to lose weight right, and so far I have maintained the balanced life I have always needed. Losing the weight takes a lot more time, but I feel much better about my body because I realize I am finally treating it right!
This blog has helped me very much in turning my life around. I am glad that there is someone like you out there for someone like me. Thank you for everything!
“There is a saying: yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the “present.” Kung Fu Panda :)
“Your story may not have such a happy beginning, but that doesn’t make you who you are. it is the rest of your story, who you choose to be… ” Kung Fu Panda 2 :)
I have two favorite quotes…..
“Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow them.” — Louisa May Alcott
“Hardwork spotlights the character of people; some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses & others don’t turn up at all.” (Not sure who said this one but I <3 it).
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt
apologies if the contest ended, but i didn’t have time to read blogs yesterday and love picking up more inspirational quotes!! my favorite one this week is:
It is never too late to be what you might have been.
— George Eliot
Your outlook on life is a direct reflection of how much you like yourself.
Hi Angela!
My boyfriend’s favourite saying is “It Is What It Is” – ridiculous and infuriating at times but I’ve learnt that in times of unhappiness or stress, repeating this mantra is surprisingly calming and in hindsight really sensible!
My favourite quote (that I can remember off the top of my head, there’s tonnes of good ones out there) is “Pain is temporary…Quitting lasts forever”. I find this particularly motivating and inspiring when I am jogging and feeling puffed and wanting to just stop!
My favorite quote is: “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” said by Eleanor Roosevelt.
My favorite quote came from my dad who was an educational administrator and motivational speaker. He would always say to me… Shannon…just remember those ten little two letter words…
If it is to be, it is up to me.
I think of those 10 little 2 letter words often when a challenge comes my way.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
“Life is good!”
Favorite quote……
“The trick is not to rid your stomach of butterflies—but to make them fly in formation.”
“The trick is not to rid your stomach of butterflies—but to make them fly in formation.”
“All the variety, all the charm, all the beauty of life is made up of light and shadow”
– Tolstoy
By the way, your quotation used in the previous post happened to make my outlook on my current situation much better!
“There is a saying: yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the “present.” Kung Fu Panda :)
Your story may not have such a happy beginning, but that doesn’t make you who you are. it is the rest of your story, who you choose to be… Kung Fu Panda 2 :)
Here’s a quote from Julia Child I recently came across and have been reflecting on: “Moderation. Small helpings. Sample a little bit of everything. These are the secrets of happiness and good health.” I’m trying to live this way more.
Thanks for a fun giveaway!
“The Sun comes up every morning, appreciate life now!” – Katia Gordeeva
“I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing…kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles.”
– Audrey Hepburn
ps. your blog is a true inspiration. :)
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. – Psalm 139:14
While I breathe, I hope ~ Cicero
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain
Loove that one.
But my life mantra and what led me through to finish TWO marathons(!) is “I am stronger than I think”. I loved it so much I got it tattooed on my foot!
I love your blog!!! You are very inspirational and I look forward to reading your posts.
I would have to say one of my favorite quotes is:
“Be who you are and say what you mean because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind” Dr. Suess.
It has stuck with me since I was a child.
You are going to have a tough choice in picking a winner there are a lot of great comments and quotes. Thanks for the chance, your GloBars look yummy!
Peace to you and your journey and I will look forward to many more posts!
Its not a quote but an awesome poem that makes me feel great each time I read it. Maya Angelou ” Phenomenal woman “
EGBOK – Everything’s Going to Be OK
Always do right. This will gratify some and astonish the rest- Mark Twain
I have learned it’s not about the calories…it’s about nourishing my amazing body with REAL food that is absolutely delicious. I went from being a fries-and-shake-girl who ate tons of meat to a young “flexitarian” who adores spinach, oatmeal, and beeeans! :) Thank you so much for this giveaway, Angela! Love you, girl!
“Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday” –author unknown
This one really hits home for me a lot, and I am working on truly living int the moment! no worries, no fears, just living and being happy and free.
Wow. Reading all these great quotes makes me realize I don’t quite have a mantra of my own . . . . The only one I can think of is, “Just say thank you.” I say this to myself (in my head) when someone gives me a compliment and to my friends and sisters when someone compliments them–so often I hear women dismissing a compliment, “Oh, please! I didn’t even shower today!” “No! I’m so bloated!” when they should just say “Thank you.” I’ve heard from many different sources (Oprah, I’m sure!) that sometimes we treat ourselves worse than we would ever let anyone treat our children, our sisters, our friends—it’s true! In the past couple months, especially, I’ve tried to be kinder to myself and my body; I’ve been vegan for four years, but now I’m eating better than ever (raw fruit or veggies before each meal really helps up my fresh intake—grabbed that tip from The Beauty Detox Solution by Kimberly Snyder) and I’ve stopped weighing myself–I used to give that number on the scale the power to color my mood—now I’ve grabbed the big crayon back, slid the scale under my dresser and I color my mood myself.
This is such a great post, Angela! Thanks!
I love quotes, but one of my faves is:
Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars. ~Les Brown
I’ve learned that I’m so much stronger than I ever thought. And the things that used to be sacrifices are now actually choices!
my dad always used to tell me: “if you can dream it, you can be it”. He heed me believe I can truly do whatever I put my mind to.
I know I missed the deadline…but I’m writing anyway, so my words are out there and I can feel proud of them! I have, all my life, been plagued by the bad habit of people pleasing . I am happy to announce that at 49 I am free! Turning 40 was a turning point for me. I got to a point where I finally learned to say no to people and I finally accepted the fact that not everyone is going to like me, so this is me – like it or leave it. I make mistakes, sometimes I put my foot in my mouth. I’m not perfect. But, I’m kind, creative and spirited.I no longer lose sleep over bad parts of my day. I brush it off, try to learn form it and lay my head on the pillow. 9 years later, I’m on a healthy journey finally – mind and body. I feel beautiful again. I feel whole and healthy. I love how I feel. I walk differently, with my head high and with a confident swagger! (probably because my rear end is a bit smaller!) I hope that the younger ones on this blog will find their peace at an earlier age than I did, but for me it was worth the wait! A favorite quote? I love this one –
“Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.” Buddha
What a great post! It came so perfectly too since I had a bad date with my scale yesterday. A good reminder to me that a pound or two up or down does not make me who I am.
“You can give in to the failure messages and be a bitter deadbeat of excuses. Or you can choose to be happy and positive and excited about life.”
A.L. Williams
From my boyfriend of 7 years, who has watched me struggle with my weight: “Diets don’t work, just focus on working out and making healthy choices and the weight will come off naturally.” And it still does…
Hi Angela, I really like to quote that you posted above. For me, one of the most important things that I’ve learned is that nothing is impossible, and that you can achieve (almost) anything you want a long as you are dedicated, disciplind and have a strong believe in yourself. So if anyone ever tells you that you can’t ‘run a marathon, make a carier of get that perfect job’ just believe in yourself and go for it. Your mind and your body are capable of doing amazing things! Love Vicky
Eat right equals feel good.If you feel good you look good. Live everyday with happiness. It could always be your last.
My favorite Weight Loss/Lifestyle Quote:
“I look the way I look, think the way I think, feel the way I feel, love the way I love! I am a whole complex package. Take me… or leave me. Accept me – or walk away! Do not try to make me feel like less of a person, just because I don’t fit your idea of who I should be and don’t try to change me to fit your mould. If I need to change, I alone will make that decision.”
Thanks for an awesome giveaway and an inspirational blog!
You are beautiful!!
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” Eleanor Roosevelt.
It’s true. YOU determine how awesome you are – no one else.
I’ve learned that running for weight loss is miserable. Running to burn calories suck. But running without thinking of that stuff and just running because it makes me feel good, makes it enjoyable and freeing.
