Lights, Camera…CLEAN!!!

by Angela (Oh She Glows) on December 3, 2009

1 day until the TV crew is here!!!!!!

Thank you for your congrats! For those of you who asked, I will be on CTV News. They are one of the most popular news stations in all of Toronto!!!! They will be airing some preview clips over the weekend and then the feature will air on Monday (time TBA). I will also ask them if it will be streamed online- if not- I may have to get Eric to covertly tape it??? ;)

I’m not going to lie, I have had zero appetite since I heard that I was going to be on TV. I am by nature a very anxious person, and the thought of being on TV brings me WAY out of my comfort zone. I am just proud of myself for doing it though! :) I keep telling myself, it is never as bad as I imagine. In fact, I’m sure it will be FUN! :D You only live once right?

I have been living off the Green Monster. No matter how nervous I feel I am always ready for Green Monster in my tummy!

This mixture was lovely- Almond milk, Amazing Grass Chocolate Meal, chia seeds, frozen blueberries, spinach. Just a delight in a cup, folks. I had two today.

I like chomping on things when I am nervous. I figure these organic carrots are much better than chomping on chips…

Pop quiz: How do you know you are stressed?

When you chomp through 2 carrots and don’t really recall eating them, but you have the stubs as evidence.

Don’t worry- I had lots of other food today too…just no time to photograph!

You can be sure that I will be keeping up with my workouts over the next couple days as a great stress reliever!

I had a crazy good workout today. My wild night off last night sure paid off! ;)

I did a 60 min treadmill hill workout (speed 4, incline 11%) followed by my best Whittle My Middle yet!

Check it out:

Day 22 (Dec 2)

  • Plank: 1:30 secs (arms extended)
  • Side Plank: 1:30  (arms bent)
  • Plank with elbows on stability ball: 1:30 secs
  • Stability Ball Jackknifes: 15 reps
  • Stability ball roll out: 15 reps
  • Plank Rotations: 1:30 secs

Today was the first day I was able to bring back the 90 second planks!!!! :D I was so happy. My core feels strong.

I’d like to take this moment to let you know that

I had a few tops picked out and then I read that the colours: Red, White, and Black are no-no’s for the camera. Guess what colour my chosen shirts were??? LOL.

So tomorrow, I am booting it to the mall. I am on the HUNT for a COLOURED blazer!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone knows where I can find a coloured blazer (note: Not black, white, grey, or brown) please let me know! We don’t have J Crew, so that isn’t an option. I am looking for a bright blue or teal colour specifically (it’s my ‘power’ colour), but I doubt I will be able to find one in the winter…?

I am going to check out the following stores: Jacob, H&M, Club Monaco, Tristan, Banana Republic, Le Chateau.

I’d also like to take this moment to tell you all how much I love my Dear Husband.

He got home from work tonight and started helping me clean. We just stopped around 11:30pm!

We will be moving the extra couch out of this room for Friday…

We moved the small tree to cover the eye sore wires in the corner…

Don’t ask…

I brought the lamp down from our bedroom and put it in this room. It looks quite warm and lovely. I moved the Sketchie lamp into our bedroom.

Fixed the tablecloth. Vacuumed floors.

Washed floors. Cleaned kitchen.

Eric got rid of all of his reno stuff in the entry way and living room! The entry way looks much better now. He refused to remove the blue painter’s tape since he still needs it for painting. I don’t blame him. I need to do the ribbon on the other side.

Cleaned the office and desk areas.

Random question: What colour is your Tweetdeck?

As you can see, mine is green, for Green Monsters. ;) I might change it soon though…

I’m off to pack up some Glo Bar boxes for Friday (I’m hoping they put them on camera!!!) and finish some cleaning stuff.

I feel like I’m on a reality show!

Nikki T December 3, 2009 at 1:05 am

So very exciting!!

Danielle December 3, 2009 at 1:10 am

Your house looks beautiful and spotless and so ready for it’s TV debut ;) I’m so thrilled for you! You are going to be wonderful, trust me, you have such a presence in front of the camera and so much to share about “food, fitness, fashion, and fun.” I’m just bummed I don’t get any Canadian channels… maybe when it airs you can post a clip? Good luck (even if you don’t need it) and have fun! :)

Bree December 3, 2009 at 1:39 am

you have to tape it!! i’d say tape it when it’s on tv…but they might cut some out…? i want to see it!!! :-D

Run Sarah December 3, 2009 at 1:40 am

I have blue blazers from H&M & Banana Republic that I love, but also check out Smart Set! They have tons of blue right now and are really inexpensive!

Carbzilla December 3, 2009 at 1:45 am

Wear something that brings out the color in your eyes. That’s all I got! Good luck and have fun!

Jennifer @ His N' Her Health December 3, 2009 at 2:04 am

That is so exciting!! Congrats and OMG I had no idea I could change the color of my tweetdeck. I must go do that now!

Bridget December 3, 2009 at 2:11 am

Nice job on the cleaning Eric!

Michelle @ Eatingjourney December 3, 2009 at 2:38 am

First of all congrats. I think that it’s awesome that you’re getting this amazing opportunity to share your experience and success with so many people. However, please..please..please.. know that you aren’t going to look 10lbs fatter. You are beautiful and glowing. From what I’ve seen…of the youtube look amazing. Remember how far you’ve come and ENJOY this time. You have nothing to prove to have all of your readers behind you.

Orla December 3, 2009 at 3:09 am

Girl, if your youtube videos and all the photos you show here are you “looking 10lbs fatter” than you actually are, then you have nothing to worry about. You are SLAMMING.

You know it’s just your nerves talking. You’re going to rock, and look fab!!

P.S. if you can’t get a blazer, just wear a cute teal top and blast the central heating! haha

Karla December 3, 2009 at 3:27 am

Congratulations! I’m so excited for you! I hope I get to see it!

I definitely know I’m stressed now. I’ve eaten A TON of food and feel like I haven’t really enjoyed it :(

Gillian December 3, 2009 at 3:34 am

I’m so happy for you!!!!

Costa Blanca usually has some great blazers and blouses for a great price in different colors.

After doing 4 years of journalism school and six weeks at CTV Vancouver, my on camera tips are the following: don’t look into the camera, look at the person interviewing you. Stay away from distracting patterns or jewelry. Wear your hair down. Avoid turtlenecks. Powder, powder, powder- shine is terrible on camera! Avoid any eye make-up that is sparkly/shimmery and stick to solids.

Most importantly have fun, and be your natural beautiful self! You are a natural on camera so I know you will have no issues!! Can’t wait to see it!

Gillian December 3, 2009 at 3:35 am

Oh and one more thing- the 10 pound rule is a myth- you are fit and gorgeous and the camera will show it.

Naomi December 3, 2009 at 3:49 am

You will look beautiful on camera because you *are* beautiful. I can’t wait to see it so I hope you post the clip on here. Congratulations!

Jennie {in Wonderland} December 3, 2009 at 6:47 am

My business is video marketing – so I have a few tips :-)

1) You probably won’t look 10 pounds heavier. Most good cameras don’t make that illusion happen. No one ever looks heavier on our camera, which I appreciate seeing as we film ourselves sometimes!!!

I find the only thing that cameras do sometimes is create the illusion or appearance of a double chin. But you are so tiny, I can’t see that happening.

2) Choose a rich colour – green always looks nice. I wear white a lot – really crisp white, or black. Your hair would pop against that kind of solid colour.

3) No stripes or patterns – they go funky on camera.

4) Make sure your lip colour is soft, but not neutral and try to avoid strong reds.

5) Always put a bit more makeup on than you think you’ll need

6) Try to avoid looking at the camera lens unless they ask you to. That’s one thing we find – clients’ eyes will be darting around the room, because they want to look at the camera so.badly but we’ve told them not to. lol. Just pretend it’s not there; easier said than done, I know!!

And lastly,

Congratulations!!! CTV News is HUGE! Good luck!!

Lizzie December 3, 2009 at 7:05 am

The makeup tip is a really good one!!

Lizzie December 3, 2009 at 7:03 am

You are insane :) – don’t even worry about the 10lb rule (doesn’t come into effect anyway). Just enjoy the experience. I’m usually behind the camera whether it’s video or photo and I know the feeling of not wanting to be there, but this will be huge for you! If anything, you should be enjoying your peace and quiet now, b/c once the Glo bar secret is out you’ll be in demand! :)

Also . . Jacob? I’m jealous! They used to have 2 shops in the US and one of them was near my apartment. Then a couple of months ago I went to get some new pants . . and they had moved out and been replaced by a super rubbish clothing store! Noooooo . . have two winter vests, a cute black pullover vest and two pairs of pants from them – first store where everything fits! I told my husband and his reaction was that we would now have to make trips to Montreal to get my clothes – ha ha! Don’t think you’ll have a problem finding something. Post some pics when you’re ready!

Laura December 3, 2009 at 7:38 am

Angela, you are so photogenic, I really don’t think you need to worry about how you will look on the Big Screen- certainly the photos show you as nothing but a lovely person who shines from the inside- and out. I don’t really see why you shouldn’t air these worries on your blog, as the poster above said- its important to be real, no-one is ‘perfect’, and those who are so defiantly anti weight/image conscious, well, it seems a little unrealistic to me- we’re all human, and thats what is great about you! Its great to see someone who is so successful, happy and healthy but can also say that she gets really anxious, a true role model. So much good luck for tomorrow- I’m afraid I can’t help you on the top front as I am thousands and thousands of miles away over the Pond, (which is lucky otherwise I might well steal Sketchie!) but I’m sure you’ll find something great. I wanted to ask you though- when looking for new clothes, do you search for vegan friendly ones or not? I’m struggling with this at the moment as its getting so cold here and can’t find any warm tops without wool in them ;( Sorry for taking up so much of your posting space ;)

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is December 3, 2009 at 7:48 am

This will be so exciting!!! Your house looks fabulous already. I can’t wait to hear all about it!

The Voracious Vegan December 3, 2009 at 7:52 am

Oooh I know I’m nervous when I lose my appetite! It is a very rare thing for me to not be able to eat, but extreme stress will do it for sure! Luckily there’s not much I stress about so I don’t have to worry about that too often. Heee hee, love your carrot stumps!

I think your house looks so cozy and inviting, good luck and have fun!

Jessie December 3, 2009 at 8:01 am

Your house looks great! I hope they do post your interview online. I can’t wait to see it!

Dori December 3, 2009 at 8:09 am

My Tweetdeck is the default dark grey. It is pleasing to my eye so I never bothered changing it.

I think you can definitely find a nice light grey blazer and then wear a teal or bright blue shirt under it and it will be gorgeous. And then you can wear a grey blazer with anything going forward. Good luck!

kilax December 3, 2009 at 8:13 am

Hee hee, I don’t even know what a TweetDeck is!

Definitely check Banana Republic! I bet you will find a nice blazer there.

Good luck tomorrow! I am so excited for you! :)

soup December 3, 2009 at 8:17 am

I ll switch my morning ritual of cable plus 24 just for you :)
I’ve seen tonnes of blazers at H&M but they are veeeeeery trendy ones there right now. I d think your best bet would be Jacob . They always have classy stuff.
Good look don’t forget to breathe and ask ahead of time what camera you are to look at , as Im sure there will be more than one.Oh and if you wear any bronzer go very easy on it that day, because for some reason tv can make people look very orange very easily, its the lighting I think.

Jewel December 3, 2009 at 8:22 am

Your house looks gorgeous! You look gorgeous! And I am excited for you about tomorrow.

You have been given some great tips too!

I know you will rock tomorrow just being yourself!!!!

Chava December 3, 2009 at 8:30 am

Don’t worry about the ten pounds from the camera. You are so beautiful! You will look glowing. Also, Ann Taylor Loft has a purple blazer right now but I think you are right to look for a blue.

Carolyn December 3, 2009 at 8:31 am

Good luck! The house looks great!!

elizabeth December 3, 2009 at 8:40 am

your house looks beautiful! crank the christmas music and try to chillax! There was just a bit in Elle from one of the staffers who’s on The City (so you know her word is gospel, cuz it’s The City and that’s like legit tv right there). Anyway, she had a bunch of tips about dressing for tv, but I already dropped my old issue off at the gym. I remember she said that getting a blow-out makes a big difference. OH, also, that your shouldn’t wear skirts on tv that hit you at your calves because they chop you up.

Good luck! So excited for you!

Paige @ Running Around Normal December 3, 2009 at 8:48 am

Eep!! So exciting! Know we are here rooting for you, Ange:-D I think it’s a great idea to keep chugging those GM’s – especially if you have no appetite for anything else. And you will look gorgeous on TV. Don’t worry about the adding the 10 pounds – you always look stunning in your “vlogs!”Nice job on the workout, woman! I will one day get to the 90 second plank!
Your house looks gorgeous! Talk about a cleaning spree! That’s great that Eric could help you.
Good luck at the mall today, sweetie!

Kristie Lynn December 3, 2009 at 8:58 am

You know lady, most of us have only ever seen you on camera before, and I think we can all say you look stunning! Good luck finding a colored blazer – I don’t even own a black/white/brown one, so I’m no help :)

Shannon December 3, 2009 at 9:02 am

Congratulations! Your house looks beautiful…it will be a lovely backdrop for your interview. You’ll do great :)

Jordan @ Salt Sweat Sugar December 3, 2009 at 9:14 am

Hey! I think we have the same couch!

You have a GORGEOUS place =]

Lauren December 3, 2009 at 9:23 am

YAY!!! CTV!!! So excited to see you!!! :)

Pam December 3, 2009 at 9:24 am

Awe Angie…don’t sweat the small stuff..(the 10 lbs thing), you WILL do great!

Your home is beautiful!

Meg's Gut December 3, 2009 at 9:28 am

Oooo I’ll definitely make sure to tune into CTV Monday!

Try Smart Set, they usually have some colourful blazers!

Good luck, I’m sure you’ll do fine!

Melinda December 3, 2009 at 9:33 am

Very exciting. Congrats and good luck. I am always nervous too for on camera stuff. Radio is way easier. What are you going to be on for? I think I missed that part. If you need any info on media stuff, I think I had some stuff on what to wear but I need to double check if you are interested. I did media training once and have a huge binder of resources.

Brittany December 3, 2009 at 9:41 am

CTV! Wow that is awesome! I am going to watch for sure!

Suzy Shier is always good for some nice blazers… its always been good to me!

Good luck once again!

Cara (Cara Craves...) December 3, 2009 at 9:47 am

Check out RW & Co. They had some nice stuff when I was in there the other day. I figure if they have that store in Guelph and Kitchener, it should be at a mall in Toronto.
Good luck :)

brandi December 3, 2009 at 9:55 am

the house looks beautiful! And i LOVE the ceiling in your kitchen!!! That’s awesome.

Nelly December 3, 2009 at 10:05 am

angela you’re gonna rock toronto’s socks off…you’ll be amazing…and you are not anywhere close to being FAT, so you will not appear huge on television!

i think you will have the most luck at h&m…and perhaps jacob…i saw some colourful jackets the other day…

omg good luck…and CONGRATS!!!!

p.s. your house looks spectacular…

Jocelyn December 3, 2009 at 10:09 am

Hi Angela! Is it Canada am??

Shannon (The Daily Balance) December 3, 2009 at 10:10 am

Your house looks gorgeous! GOOD LUCK!

Ariel December 3, 2009 at 10:18 am

congratulations! let us know when it’s going to be airing!
I kinda hope its on CP24 breakfast cause that’s what I watch anyways :)
As for blazers, forever 21 might have some! But that’s all the way in mapleview mall (the good one, anyway)

Julie @ Wearing Mascara December 3, 2009 at 10:22 am

This is SO exciting!!!!! :-) Your house looks perfect. Also, don’t stress too much about what to wear. You’ll look GREAT no matter what. Even if it is in a “bad” color for TV. I can’t wait to read or even see a recap.

Alexandra December 3, 2009 at 10:24 am

Hi Ange,

I’m a Canadian and would love to catch this on TV. Can you let me know more details about when it will be airing on CTV?

Genie December 3, 2009 at 10:25 am

That is so cool!! Congratulations!!!

The house looks so spic and span! I LOVE your kitchen, especially the tile floors. I just saved the pic in my Home Improvement inspiration folder. LOL!

Katie December 3, 2009 at 10:33 am

Happy Holidays – you are ALL READY!

Check out my blog – new giveaway and workout songs!

Claire December 3, 2009 at 10:35 am

The house looks great,Angela!!What shade green is that in your dining area? I love it:-) cc

Morgan @ Life After Bagels December 3, 2009 at 10:49 am

yay let us know what time as soon as you know . . .

Also – are you coming into Toronto? How about forever 21 – it’s on the street at Yonge and Dundas. I can’t remember what they have but I was in there last weekend and everything was pretty colourful

Angie (Losing It and Loving It) December 3, 2009 at 10:54 am

How exciting! You’ll do great and look beautiful no matter what.

And I think I need to clean our house now LOL

Oh and my tweetdeck is maroon/dark red color.

Kelsey December 3, 2009 at 11:00 am

you have such a beautiful home! can I move in? :D
i’m the same way with being anxious and needing crunchy things to keep my mind off of the crazy. and gum. lots and lots of gum.

Beth @ DiningAndDishing December 3, 2009 at 11:09 am

CONGRATS Angela!! That is awesome news :O). Very well deserved!!

A couple years ago I got an AWESOME blazer (blue) from Smart Set. Not sure if they still have something like that but I love mine!

Laura Georgina December 3, 2009 at 11:10 am

The house looks lovely! If a camera crew were to come to my house, I’d have to limit them to the front porch. Unless guests are coming to stay–or ants invade–I do a “mother in law” cleaning (a quick once-over of areas that can be seen).

When I stress, I pick at my cuticles without thinking and then wonder why my hands look live I’ve been out planting a rock garden. I wish my stress would manifest itself in nicer ways, like carrot stumps!

Good luck with the jacket search! You can’t go wrong with the targeted search you’ve set up, and let us know where it came from–I’m desperately looking for a jewel-toned blazer too….

Whit December 3, 2009 at 11:13 am

So exciting for you!!! :D You will look lovely, I feel certain. Good luck with the jacket search!

Marta December 3, 2009 at 11:25 am

My name is Marta and I am from Portugal, and I dicover your blog a few days ago, I am just loving it.
Please continue.
P.S- I am gona try the green monster.

Shelly December 3, 2009 at 11:38 am

Good luck!!! And I just wanted to post and say that I think your kitchen is really pretty. :)

[email protected] the doctor takes a wife December 3, 2009 at 11:40 am

you’ll be great!!

Here’s a little tip to help the nerves: eat bananas. I’m a musician and have SOO many friends who pop pills to squash nerves, but bananas have natural beta blockers in them to help calm you down. I eat one about an hour before I have to play, and then another half about a half an hour before :)

Hope that helps!!

Jenn December 3, 2009 at 11:45 am

Ohhh, I have satellite and can get CTV Toronto down here in Windsor. What program? Those of us who can, MUST watch!

I’m so excited for you that I’M losing MY appetite!!

Anais December 3, 2009 at 11:51 am

Oh woah, I had totally misread your last post and thought it was a radio interview – which is great, but a TV interview, good for you!! Do you know if we’ll be able to catch it anywhere else in Ontario or just in Toronto? Good luck!! YOu’ll do great, I have no doubts :D

Krista December 3, 2009 at 12:07 pm

That’s great news, Ang! I hope to be home when it’s aired so I can watch you!!!

Sarah December 3, 2009 at 1:47 pm

That’s the first time I have ever seen a Tweet Deck, ha ha, I have never used it! :)

Carolyn December 3, 2009 at 2:14 pm

CTV? That’s so exciting! Can’t wait to watch it, keep us updated on air times if you can. About the blazer… I think you’ve got some good guidance already. Banana Republic, Smart set, and Jacob would be where I’d look first. And this is totally “duh” advice, but even though you’re suffering a lack of appetite, make sure you eat lots of good food! Nothing looks worse on camera than sallow skin, and I know my skin loses oomph after even just a day of poor nutrition (and I have uber-fair skin like yours, so I’m guessing it would be the same for you). This is all so neat – you only live once, and you’re really racking up the life experience notches on the belt! Good luck, I know you’ll be great.

Rose December 3, 2009 at 4:07 pm

Wow! Your house is so gorgeous and spacious!

Gina December 3, 2009 at 4:46 pm

There is a navy cordurpy blazer at Banana, but if bright blue is your color…they have this awesome blue cashmere sweater dress…it can be a splurge to celebrate your success!

By the way, I made a green monster this morning and left the extra that didn’t fit in the cup in the fridge. My boyfriend drank it this morning and was texting me for the recipe so he could make another…Success!!!

Your home is gorgeous:)

MB December 3, 2009 at 5:22 pm

You are already a star! I hope Eric can tape it or post it on youtube or something so us non-Canadians can see it. Good luck!

I had my first Green Monster today and it was yummy. Just spinach and berries to start.

Good luck finding the right color blazer.

Break a leg …

Lauren December 3, 2009 at 5:23 pm

You have a HUGE house…and so clean! I love it! Good luck tomorrow!

Jackie December 3, 2009 at 5:50 pm

Oh no no I didn’t mean you should censor yourself and I by no means expect perfection. I’ve just become such a HUGE fan of your blog over the months that the specific comment seemed sort of “out” of character. You have such wonderful things to say and the little note you put in my package of Glo Bars brightened my day, so if you can brighten my day I just know you can brighten your own! And you are such a gorgeous girl (and photogenic so tv cameras will look great) I guess I just hope you embrace all your wonderful talents and beauty because you deserve it, heck everyone does!

Jolene December 3, 2009 at 6:05 pm

I don’t even know what a tweetdeck is and I use twitter! It does have to do with twitter, right?

Dara G December 3, 2009 at 6:28 pm

i’m just going to say good luck, and you have a beautiful home. :)

Amanda December 3, 2009 at 9:48 pm

I just love your house! It’s so beautiful!!!!

Lesley Lifting Life December 3, 2009 at 9:55 pm

I’ve read the news about YOU being on the news but haven’t commented yet … CONGRATS, Ang, that’s so neat!! : )

You’ll rock it!!

Kath December 3, 2009 at 11:53 pm

Congrats Ange!!

Trail December 4, 2009 at 12:38 am

Your house looks beautiful! You’ll do great :)

Suzanne December 4, 2009 at 4:04 pm

Check out RW, Cleo or Mexx.

Katy @ These Beautiful Feet December 5, 2009 at 12:16 am

I am a very anxious person as well, I can totally relate. Green monsters are the only thing I can really get down when I am nervous too!! Great fall back though. ;) Love them! My tweetdeck is the dark purple. I am probably going to change soon though!
