I’m pooped!
Lugging around a SLR camera to photograph every morsel I eat is tiring.
The biggest and most welcome surprise with food blogging has been that it has prevented me from snacking so much. Having to take a picture with a SLR camera is a big production, so the thought of dragging out the camera to snap a picture of a few crackers is daunting.
Food blogging gives me a structure to adhere to- 3 meals and 2-3 snacks a day.
Working from home is hard because food is available 24/7 and is lurking around every corner! I think structure is a great thing for me and is a habit I hope will continue after the food blogging ends.
Food blogging has changed the way I eat slightly. It really has made me think about two things 1) Variety, and 2) Nutritional quality.
Now, I have always thought about these things before, but it just seems more heightened when I am taking pictures of everything I eat. I have started to look deeper into my cupboards to see what we can use up and my creativity has been spinning more than usual.
Eric and I also didn’t get groceries this week to save some money. I wanted to use up all the stuff we had pushed away in the back of our cupboards. As a result of this, I have used up many great items- frozen veggies, canned tomatoes, tabouli, produce (that might have otherwise gone bad), sauces, and soups. It is amazing how long we can last just off the food in our cupboards, isn’t it?
This has been fun and I think it is nice to be able to show you what I eat over the course of a few days or more. I like showing that yes, I do eat a lot of food, and I am damn proud of it. Long gone are the days when I would eat a measly iceberg salad for my lunch. I like to show you that you can eat a lot of delicious and healthy foods and not have to deprive yourself.
When I was deep into disordered eating I never would have dreamed that I could eat this much food (and feel ok about it). My life has done a complete 180 and for that I have food blogs to thank and a lot of daily persistence.
Taking the time to nurture my body with good food has really given me a richer, more enjoyable life.
I’m curious, how has food blogging (or food blogs) affected the way you eat?
See you tomorrow for everything I ate today + 2 new delicious meal and snack ideas!
