Aww chia. So we meet again.
Let’s recap the health benefits of chia:
- More fibre than bran
- 3x more antioxidants than blueberries
- 15x more magnesium than broccoli
- 3x more iron than spinach
- Helps with hydration
You can make a ‘power gel’ by just mixing it with water (water to chia ratio of 9:1).
On Sunday, I decided to make a super healthy post-run recovery snack.
Repair and Recover Vegan Chia Pudding
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
- 1/2 cup non-dairy milk (soy, almond, hemp, rice, etc)
- 1/2 tablespoon cocoa
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 tablespoon Sweetener to taste (agave, maple syrup, brown rice syrup, etc)
Directions: Mix chia, water, and milk together and stir for about 1 minute or two. Next add in the carob or cocoa (optional) and sweetener to taste. Stir for another minute and then pop it into the fridge for about 10-15 minutes. Remove from fridge and stir for another 20-30 seconds. Now enjoy your delicious, energizing, and antioxidant packed chia pudding! You can heat it up in the microwave too. Yields about 3/4 cup.
This is not your average pudding. I’m just going to say that right now. It’s a bit slimy!
Enjoy your day! :)
Congrats on the good organic news! Sounds like you are making progress slowly buy surely on all your dreams! Keep up the great work!

Where do you get Chia seeds from? I have never heard of eating Chia … is it the same thing as the Chia Pet???
Yay for going 100% organic! I can’t wait until you begin to ship to the US :)
That pudding looks divine!! I will be trying it soon :)
My desk has been looking very similar these days!
LOL you have me so excited to try out chia seeds! Pudding looks super yummy.
Sketchie is hilarious. My parents cat passed away last month and they are gearing up to adopt a new one (maybe two!).
Wow that pudding sounds soooo good! I have made chia pudding using chia seeds, mashed banana, cinnamon, and almond milk. It was very good too!!
I can’t wait for US shipping!!!!!!!!!! Also, I need to find chia.
I’ve been making a watermelon smoothie in my vitamix with chia seeds. I used frozen watermelon or fresh with some ice, and a scoop of chia seeds. It’s great for hydrating after a long workout or mowing the grass in the sun.
Exciting about being able to go organic! Don’t worry, I am sure you will have plenty of orders for glo bars! I know I will be ordering once you are able to ship to the US!
I wish I had chia seeds so I could try that pudding! And wow, serious congrats on your glo bar process! I love reading about how far you’ve come with that.. you’ve worked hard on it!
Angela – do you think it would work with Chia powder? That’s what I have at the moment. And could you use cacao powder (also have a bag of that)? It looks so yummy!!
I love sketchie…so much personality. Good luck with everything..I don’t think that you have much to worry about….the bars were a total hit at HLS :)
Congrats and Sketchie is SO cute!
Thanks for the website! I ordered some black chia seeds!!! Can’t wait for them to get here :-)
i still haven’t tried chia seeds. after seeing this pudding on your’s and gina’s blog i know i have to buy some.
it’s so exciting that you are making so much progress with the business side of things. i’m starting my own business right now and every little step feels like a huge accomplishment.
Ok, next time I go to my natural foods store, I’m looking for these Chia seeds. You’ve touted them so much I just have to try them! If they don’t have them, I’ll try that website.
I know you’ll sell the Glo Bars. As soon as you open it up to the US, I’ll be on there buying some for sure. :D
Great recipe. Do you usually eat the whole portion?
Majl- I ate the whole portion when I made it. It was after my long run (7.6 miles) and I wanted all the protein it had. :)
congrats on the organic news!
That photo of Sketchie is CLASSIC – too cute!
Sounds yummy; can’t wait to try it! Thanks for sharing.
I’m dying to try the Glo bars!! I love Sketchie, too cute!

Hahaha, I love Sketchie!
Always love the Sketchie pictures!
Congrats with all of the successes! The chia pudding looks great too.
Ah Sketchie does look a bit sad!
good for you ange! congrats with all the good news!! I made chia pudding last week but gobbled it up before I got to blog about it (mine didn’t have cocoa). Do you use just regular unsweetened cocoa powder for it? i would love to make a chocolate version.
Love the picture of Sketchie. He needs a friend.
You have successfully convinced me to jump on the chia seed band wagon.
I am picking up chia seeds tomorrow. I have been meaning to for oh, about six months, but this post was the clincher. Thank you!
It’s so awesome tha Glo Bars will soon be raw!! I just got some chia seeds in the mail today and now I have a great recipe to start with!
yay for 100% organic….now just get those shipped to the States and pronto!
I love chia seeds! I like to mix them in with my yogurt for breakfast. Lately I have been doing a chocolate chia pudding, similar to the recipe you posted. I mix full-fat greek yogurt, chia seeds, cocoa powder, cinnamon and cacao nibs. Once it gels up (about 15 minutes), I like to add a little bit of fruit, like some strawberries or cherries. Sometimes I will also add a drizzle of coconut oil. It is such a delicious way to start the day!
thanks for posting on the chia seeds – just got some in the mail. Congrats on going organic!!
just found your blog today and have already ordered chia seeds & flour. and i’m going through your archives. great blog. also, i was on another site the other day and there is a picture of a cat who was ‘visiting’ this blogger’s yard and looks exactly like your cat sketchie. the name of the blog is gladsome tidings and it looks like the address is www.gretchenjoanna.blogspot.com/ …….scroll down the most recent post and you will see sketchie’s twin!!!! he is adorable by the way. what breed of cat is he?
thanks for all the great information on your blog!
I’ve been experimenting with different ingredients and chia seeds myself. The chocolate combo you have here is a good one. I also have enjoyed rice milk, honey, and drop of pure vanilla extract. Adding some coffee to the chocolate recipe is also good (replace some milk with coffee or espresso).
I am going to try the vanilla pudding one I just mentioned with garam masala spice mix for a chai version. that should be a good one!
Thanks for sharing,
wow sounds great! we use chia a lot and make the gel often just to drink. Pudding sounds amazing.
your cat is gorgeous, what type is he?
do you sell your glo-bars in AB anywhere? I’m sure I’ve seen them on shelves at Planet Organic, no?
This recipe has changed the way I look at pudding and dessert. I can’t believe something so delicious is so good for you- I love it!
I blended it with about 7 vanilla stevia drops, popped it in the fridge and when I was out of the shower I had the most amazing treat.
