Good morning!
Well, this morning’s smoothie was truly sinful!
Yesterday, all of you were wondering if I had slipped something into my smoothie. Trust me, I wanted to the way my nerves were on the last day of work! ;) However, I don’t ever drink and drive…not even just a bit.
So this morning, I took the liberty of spicing up my smoothie a bit. What better way than to carry on the celebrations than this:
Is this a party drink or what!?
The loot:
- 1 1/4 cup Original Almond Breeze
- handful organic baby carrots
- 1 Tbsp flax
- Heaping 1/3 cup of frozen strawberries
- 1 ripened medium banana
- 2 huge leaves of kale
- a splash of Coconut Jamaica rum
It gives the term happy hour a whole new meaning!
Although the bar at this hour was very lonely. Sketchie and Eric were still in bed!
I tasted just a hint of coconut flavour, it was perfect. I felt like I was having at party at 8am!

Ever since watching The Office last week, icicles remind me of Dwight. ;)
eek!!! Stand to the side!!!

Tonight we are having friends over for a little impromptu celebration! I’m excited. On the agenda will be some Wii, ping pong, and the hockey game!
I am also getting my hair done (highlights) today at a new salon. Naturally, I am quite nervous going to a new place that I know nothing about! But my old salon is now too far to drive to. I hope this new place is good. It is an Aveda salon (love those!) and I love the products they use and the hair dye is much more gentle and doesn’t break my hair. This is going to wreck the budget this week….agh!!! Highlights are so expensive, especially for my long hair!
Jen was wondering if I ever do my own highlights and the answer to that is not anymore! I tried it once or twice to save money and miserably failed. It looked horrible. I learned my lesson!
Hopefully my hair will turn out nicely today! I will try to post an update pic later on.

Haha!! Love it :-D
Happy birthday to your nephew!!
Have a wonderful Saturday!!
I am from Ontario too! Just found your blog, it looks great :) Good luck with the hair appointment, I am sure it will turn out great!
ps I definitely say to my self ‘take a step back then look’ whenever I see icicles now!
That smoothie looks yummy! I’ve become a big fan of smoothies since reading your blog!
Ok, the morning cocktail looks delicious!
I have a long story about my most recent cut and color- was lucky enough to have a celebrity stylist do it but now I’m looking for a new salon and stylish who can do short hair. Was planning on going to the Aveda salon as I love all their products.
Congratulations on leaving your job! Hope you enjoy your new day on a new foot. You ‘ll look back on this experience and be SOOO glad you went for it. I wish you all the luck!
I saw the honorable mention prize on KathEats. I’m so excited to receive mine soon. I never win anything!!! Thanks!
Have a great weekend — you deserve it. :)
Wow, that smoothie is the most beautiful color!!
Hair color is one of my few splurges. I’ve been seeing the same color girl for oh, 12 years now, and she only charges me for the color, not her labor which means full head of highlights = $10. Which reminds me…. I need to make an appointment!
Yummy smoothie, it’s so bright and pretty today!!
Kim Cattrall always says a girl should never feel badly about spending money on her hair. It’s one of those things that always makes a girl feel fabulous!
In my opinion, I think she’s right! :)
GREAT breakfast idea! :)
Smoothie looks great! Have fun getting your “hair did”. I love going to the salon!
I have some bars up for grabs on my blog…i hope you enter – it might help with the budget if you win!
p.s. i’m sending my valentines recipe tomorrow! i’ll represent canada!
love me a cocktail in mornin… good for treatin yourself :)
and lol’d at the dwight comment. ‘i always tell him, do not stand directly under them…’
awesome smoothie idea :)
Congrats on the guest post!
Thanks for the hair info Ang!! I am too chicken to highlight my own hair….afraid to turn it orange or green. I have gone to Aveda….the color is wonderful!! But it is a little on the cha-ching side!! Can’t wait to see pics!! :)
Whoa! Rum at 8am!!!
LOL DWIGHT!!!!!!
oh god, i tried to highlight my own hair once too… DEBACLE!!!! nuff said.
also, why do you have a XXXX beer mat in your bar??? i studied abroad in Australia and LOVE that beer. and all things Australian :)
I am definitely going to have to try those smoothies :)
p.s. i’m actually going to a Czech salon for the first time on Tuesday for highlights… eeek! i was trying to hold out, but the winter lack of sunshine here really = dull hair. a splurge that’s totally worth it in my opinion! i hope it comes out nice like at home… i’m picky about my highlights!!! :)
Do you have an Aveda school near you? I go to one down the street from my house, and it’s only $8-12 for a cut and I think $20-30 for highlights. The beauty is that students do the beginning part of your cut/color, with an instructor checking every step, and usually finishing the whole thing.
The instructor who watches over my student stylist works at one of the high-end salons in town, so I get HIS cut and color for under $50, which would usually cost me $150.
We have a Paul Mitchell School nearby, too, which I like.
Hey Angela,
Thanks for doing this week’s edition of Healthy Blogger Recipes! Everyone loved your two recipes.
All the Best,

Ugh, I so need to get my hair done, it’s looking horrible. I just keep putting it off, because it’s so darn expensive when you have as much hair as I do. Hope your highlights go well :)
And woohoo for Coconut Run for breakfast!
Hi Sissy…..The boys and I have the stomach flu again! agh……Help! Not a very fun first birthday for Aiden.
