Shake ‘n Bake

June 23, 2010

Just wanted to do a quick poll about who else felt the earthquake not too long ago?

Leave a comment below with your location if you felt it…I have heard that it was also felt in NY, Vermont, Pittsburg, etc.

My house was shaking like crazy and I thought someone broke in or something!

I wonder if this means my race is cancelled tonight. :ermm:

We never get earthquakes in Ontario so this is quite strange.

Be safe!

I live in Waterloo and I felt it. I was at the computer and my monitor was shaking along with the flowers on my desk. Freaky! A bunch of people in my hometown (Orillia, just north of Barrie) felt it as well and my cousin in Ottawa said she could really feel it there!

Just outside of Windsor, Ontario. Spilled my glass of water on the floor!

Another Windsorite who felt the earth “wiggle”. It wasn’t really strong down here, but enough to make you go “WTF was that?!”

I THINK I felt it all the way down here in Philly. My office shook for about 1 second and I thought it was a large gust of wind, except it’s not windy. Now I am thinking otherwise.

earthquakes freak me out! Angela I saw you post this as I was walking out the door, there were six comments… I was gone maybe 30 min… now there’s 70+

this is scary that an earthquake is felt that far, that many places. obviously didn’t feel it here in Portland, OR, but they say we’re due for a BIG one and it completely freaks me out!

be careful everyone; Angela I hope you get to race tonight!

We had it in Toronto but somehow I totally missed it – as did my husband. Maybe it’s a family thing (we’re oblivious to earthquakes?)

But everyone else in my office felt it. All I felt was left out :(

I felt it in Boston! I thought that’s what it was, since I didn’t hear construction noises (my building is very wobbly so when they do construction nearby it shakes too). Crazy!

My mom read that it originated in Val-des-Monts, Québec, so not too far from here! I just read up quickly on what to do in an earthquake (honestly had no idea – you don’t expect earthquakes here!) and it said that if you’re driving, it’ll just feel like you’re car is acting weird… I might have felt a little bit of that, like swaying or something, but I’m not sure. Hard to say when you’re on side roads and everything is bumpy to begin with!

Actually, it originated in Val-des-bois, which is a little further North than Val-des-monts. I was at work in downtown Ottawa and all the buildings were evacuated for about 1/2 hour.

Unfortunately, we were let back into our building, so I didn’t get the afternoon off!!! :-)

Ah, she must have mistaken the two towns. Too bad you didn’t get the afternoon off! lol

You work in the wrong building! :-) I am also in downtown Ottawa and was evacuated and subsequently sent home. Yay for earthquakes!

My boyfriend felt it also, in St. Catherine’s – at the top of a ladder!

Hi Angela,

I’m in my office in Markham on the 6th floor and the entire floor and windows were shaking … very scary.
