Goooooood evening!
So yes. We got caught in a torrential downpour on our bike ride today! The heavens just opened up and it was beautiful. We knew we were getting soaked one way or another so we just had fun with it. I felt like a kid again.
On another note, swimming seems to have unleashed the hunger monster in me. I see a peak in my appetite the next day, similar to how I feel the day after a long run. Eric called me on Friday from work and he said, ‘Guess where I am?’ and he was beside Fresh restaurant. He kindly took a ‘to-go’ order for me and brought it home for me. The only snag was that they took 45 minutes to get him his to-go order. I can’t believe he was patient enough to wait that long…I felt so bad!
For dinner tonight, I had the…
I had it without the vegan mayo.
As you can see, the half on the right is no longer a half. That’s because I almost inhaled it after my swim last night. I seriously had to use all my will power to save this wrap for today!
It was so, so good.
I am totally envious of how good they fold wraps! I wish I could find a good tortilla (i.e., huge, stretchy, and THIN) like they use. I find our selection of tortilla wraps is so limited in Canada as opposed to the US. Well, the US has a much better selection of all foods, but that is another can of worms!
This is the pesto wrap that Eric had at Fresh last year, with cheese:
Pesto rocks my socks. I need to make it again.
We also went back to…
We decided to rent our wetsuits for our Try-a-tri instead of purchasing them. We want to see how this Triathlon goes and then if we end up wanting to do them on a regular basis we are going to purchase them down the road. Tri wetsuits are BIG bucks!!!
They are $35 to rent at Swim & Sports and you get the wetsuit for a full week. I think that is reasonable. We pick them up on Wednesday June 2nd. We are planning to do 2 open water swims in the lake with our wetsuits on- hopefully the Wednesday and Friday before the race. As good as swimming laps in a pool is, it will be NOTHING, absolutely nothing, like the open-water swim. I am quite nervous about having so many people around me, choppy water, elbows to the face, etc.
Our race is Sunday June 6th.
We are going to have to practice putting the wetsuit on and taking it off before the race! Thankfully they showed us the proper technique or it would have been an utter disaster!
I LOVE the wetsuit.
In fact, I would do a triathlon just to be able to wear the wetsuit! I felt amazing in it!
Does that not scream Bad to the Bone, or what?
Although, I would change one thing…
Ladies, you feel me?! ;)
We are off to a friend’s place tonight for some good ol’ R & B (Relaxation and brews)!!
I leave you with a quote that brought tears to my eyes today. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do…
“You never know what you can do before you try it. And each time you go out, it’s an experiment, a work in progress. You learn an awful lot about yourself- about your limits, your endurance, your capabilities…I think that everybody has a certain level of fear. The question is how we manage it. And I have managed to be able to control it enough in order to do my job.”

Those wraps look absolutely fantastic! So yummy.
I am new to reading your blog and I think its funny that I never knew you were in Canada! Silly me, it doesn’t even occur to me to think about where the bloggers I read are from. Now I’m going to have to start doing some clicking and learning!
Hello fellow Canuck! ;)
To help with transition coming out of the water to the bike….Body Glide. Smear your ankles, thights and wrists. I think you wrote that you were going to do a tri session….highly recommend going to learn some tips and tricks!! I love the wetsuit cat-suit look!!
That is a great tip, I would have never thought to do that. I’ll have to pick some up :)
Can;t imagine getting caught in the rain! My hubby has ran 2 marathons in the rain and it is just miserable!
Angela,
I have been searching for those ginormous wraps too! Maybe some of your readers in the GTA know a place to buy them?! I know they are around — it’s just a matter of sourcing them.
Anyone know where to find them?
I wish I knew where to get them!!! I can’t imagine Fresh makes their own?
Haha, I can’t wrap at all. I want to go to Taco Bell and ask for a tutorial. Not Chipotle–it’s way too easy with a huge-ass tortilla.
Dang girl, you look fine in your wetsuit! The one time I wore one, I felt like a penguin.
Ohhh, that wrap looks divine! I’d totally skip the mayo, too… Even though I’m not a vegan I’ve always hated mayo! I thought it just tasted like tasteless creamy stuff… blegh!
You look AWESOME in that wetsuit! Go Ironwoman ;D
Wei-Wei
I love that quote! Wetsuits are fun but so annoying if you have to use the washroom and its on. I agree about our lack of great wraps and breads in Canada. Part of the reason I love going down to Seattle to shop is to buy food products…hence why I stopped at a 24 hr Walmart at midnight after a full day of work and travelling just to pick up a few things :)
LOL…omg I didnt even think about the bathroom thing. That is so going to be me at the start line.
Love it! Your turning into a hard core tri geek! BAD TO THE BONE!!
You look AWESOME!! And you will be so, so happy you have the wetsuit…they probably told you this but, the wetsuit will do three things for you, protect you when you might come in contact with another swimmer, help keep you warm, and you will be amazed at the buoyancy it provides!! It is so much fun to swim with a wetsuit, I think you will really like it!! A little tip when you get to the end of the swim, keep swimming until your fingers touch the sand, then stand up and run… a lot of people stand up way too soon and it takes a lot more energy to run through deep water than to just keep swimming in a little further. :-) Yay! Love following you on this new journey!
That is so good to know…I feel so much better :) Thank you!
Too bad you had to wait 45 mins for your wrap- that’s insane! I had to wait 15 minutes for 2 smoothies there once and I thought that was bad. Hmm… maybe Fresh is just severly understaffed. Still looks great, though!
Great wetsuit, you look badass for sure :)
xo
K
You look amazing!!! you should just wear a wet suit all the time lol
You look like a ROCKSTAR in that thing. I’ve avoided signing up for tris that I would need a wetsuit for…now I kinda want to so I can be bad@ss too ;)
The wetsuits are actually much better than I thought they would be! They are more comfy than I thought. I’m in love! lol
You look awesome in the suit. Tip for rolling wraps…heat them in mircowave (30sec) or in a cast iron frying pan to heat slightly. This prevents the wrap from breaking apart.
that’s a great quote…i love how you always does such a great job of verbalizing exactly what i feel or what i need to hear!
and yes, you look like a total tri-badass in that wetsuit! love it!
You’re so gorgeous! :)
and Im totally digging that wrap :)
I LOVE sprouts and zucchini!
I want that wrap! Looks amazing! I’m so jealous you live close to somewhere as awesome as Fresh!
Rocking the wetsuit!!! Woo hoo Tri!
Lookin good there Ms. Ironwoman! That suit looks hot ;) Hehe.
Lookin good there Ms. Ironwoman! That suit looks hot ;) Hehe.
That wrap looks to die for!
I hear ya on the wraps in Canada. I wish we had the rectangular ones here so I could fit more fillings in. I was thinking of trying to make your spelt tortillas since they look pretty big! :)
Girl – you even look great in a wetsuit!!!
Ironwoman all the way!!
