Holy smokes it’s Friday again!
I swear it feels like it was just Friday.
Yesterday’s workout was FUN. I love the feeling of renewed enthusiasm after a day off.
I did a 3 mile run:
- 3 min walking warm-up
- Mile 1: 6.0 mph, incline 2%
- Mile 2: 6.5 mph, incline 5% (such a hard mile!!!)
- Mile 3: 6.0 mph, incline 2%
- 2 min walking cool-down
Mile 2 was a LONG, hard mile. I stopped half way through to get water. After the run, I did the ab-solute workout (18 mins of abs) and Booty Booster workout from the Booty Camp Fitness DVD.
Since I have been doing strength training my appetite has gone way up! I wonder if that is because my body is expending more energy repairing my muscle tears? Either way I have been one huge Hunger Monster lately.
This morning I woke up COLD. A Green Monster or juice was not going to cut it.
I was really excited to try out this new product:
Nut ‘n Budder contains peanuts, almonds, flaxseed oil, organic sugar, and flaxseed. It is only available in Canada right now (you don’t hear that on blogs too often!). It is seriously addicting, subtly sweet, and very creamy. I had to hide it in the back of the Lazy Susan! I could *probably* find it if I really wanted to though…if you catch my drift…
Creamy PB + J Oatmeal Parfait
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup regular oats
- 1 T chia seeds (optional)
- 1/3 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup almond breeze
- 1/2 cup plus a bit more water
- pinch salt
- 1/2 banana (optional- I didn’t have one so I used chia seeds to thicken it up nicely)
Layers/Toppings:
- Strawberry jam
- Nut ‘n Budder
- peanuts
Directions: Mix together oats, chia seeds, coconut milk, salt, banana, almond milk, and water. Bring to a boil and then cook on low, stirring frequently, for about 10 minutes. Take a glass and drop in a layer of jam, then oats, then PB, then oats, then jam, etc. Sprinkle with peanuts and enjoy!
YUM!
Would you like a chance to win a jar of the Almond Budder Extreme and Nut ‘n Budder?

I love any books by Jodi Piccoult. She writes a lot about controversial topics, which makes for interesting books! She also has a trial in each book and I love reading about that…my favorite of hers is The Pact.
My favorite fiction author is Anita Shreve and her book, “Fortune’s Rocks” is my absolute favorite and i’ve read it 3 times. She’s a fantastic fiction author and a lot of her stories take place in New England which is a plus as i’m a New England gal :)
I’d recommend “Cutting for Stone” by Abraham Verghese. I seriously couldn’t put it down.
I really like fantasy novels, and one of my favorites is the Belgariad by David Eddings. It is one of the few series that I’ve read multiple times, and plan to eventually read again!
I’ve love to try this stuff! There is something here called “Naturally More” peanut butter that sounds similar, but I haven’t found any Almond butters by this company.
PARFAIT WITH OATMEAL?! YES PLEASE! I love love love nut butters. Almond and cashew are my absolute fave!
Oh fiction books, how doth I love them. I quite enjoy reading and try to as often as I can, but lately the man and I have been listening to audio books on the drive to and from work (almost 2 hours total daily). An awesome way to multitask in traffic without putting anyone else’s life in danger! Right now my current fiction faves are:
Life of Pi – amazing story of inner strength and perseverance
Twilight series – oh yes, couldn’t help it!
The Lovely Bones – I read this 5 years ago – way before talks of the movie. A++!
Almost Moon – Also by Alice Sebold, author of The Lovely Bones. Really good as well!
HMMM yummy! Looks so good!!!! :D
I didn’t read through the comments so I don’t know what’s out there….

Also The Red Tent is something I read recently and is AMAZING.
Juliet Marilier writes some awesome fantasy novels.
Jane Austen is also a pretty great author. ;)

my favorite fiction book is “Redeeming Love” by Francince Rivers…it’s a Christian book about the love of God working in this couple’s life…I’d say it’s beneficial to read even if you aren’t religious, though. made me appreciate my husband SOOOO much!
My all-time FAVORITE fiction book is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. A classic! But if you’re looking for something more current, my book club just finished reading The Help, by Kathryn Stockett, and it was a great read! :)

Hi Angela, Waaaay behind on your Blog.
Wanted to pop in to tell you to be sure you wave me when you are in Tampa! If you happen to fly out of the Tampa Airport be sure to look over to the east as you take off or land and look for the football stadium. I’ll be right there at work and standing by for your wave! LOL
To answer an old question, I had my one and only at 38 and was planning on another but moves and life happened. It was a good age as we were able to do some things we wanted to do first and get established financially and still leave time to get her through college several years before we retire!
Those sound AHmazing!!! Oh my goodness…I think I’m actually going to start making my own nut butters here soon. I haven’t read fiction in a long time…so no suggestions :( Hope you have a great weekend!
Love your blog and the fun foods you share! A couple years ago I discovered Lee Child and his Jack Reacher series – the best, in my opinion! Check them out!
Where can you buy that?! I’m in Canada and I feel that chances of me winning this are a little low..
But, in the spirit of the contest, my all time favorite fiction book is To Kill a Mocking Bird.
Nothing beats that story.
Jemima J…one of my favorite books EVER
I unfortunately DO NOT have a fiction book recommendation, but I have a GREAT non-fiction book to recommend that you would love. It is called Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and it is truly a great story. I couldn’t put it down.
Also, I have to say that after reading your comments yesterday about breathing I have been trying so hard to breath DEEPLY. It feels good. I work in a stuffy little office and I really need deep breathing in order to feel ALIVE during the day. So thanks for the tip!
I LOVE “Mama Day”
What a creative way to make PB&J oats:) Love it!
Those nut butters sound delicious!! I love any and all James PAtterson books!
