What Is On Your Wish List?

Lunch was lovely today!

We devoured a box of Clementine’s this week. Only 3 left!! Quite possibly one of my top 3 fav. fruit.

I also had a yummy pita wrap with sautéed zucchini, hummus, tomato, spinach, and couscous.

Holiday Wish List

I thought it would be fun to show you what is on my wish list this year:

Here are the items I am asking for:

1. Blender (any suggestions for a good one that won’t break the bank?). In case I haven’t said it enough, I hate my Kitchen Aid Blender. It has broke twice on me now. Grrrrr.

2. Hair Dryer. Mine is about 3 blow dries away from dying. I’m not picky about the brand I just want it to work!

3. Phone headset for use while baking (I can never answer the phone when baking, a headset would allow me to do this). Because I am just that cool…

4. Cell phone (my ancient Blackberry is not cutting it these days!) I asked Eric to get me a used one off Craigslist. My only criteria is a full keyboard. Possibly the LG Xenon: http://www.lge.com/ca_en/mobile-phones/all-phones/LG-GR500.jsp I don’t need anything too fancy. lgxenon thumb What Is On Your Wish List?

5. Glo Bars. I would love for someone to make me Glo Bars while I kick up my feet!!!! Hint, hint, Eric… ;)

6. White Serving Trays from Costco. This isn’t the exact one below, but you get the idea. The ones at Costco that I saw last week have handles and they are $17 for 2.

7. Tights (Black, grey, brown, green, blue). Tights are one of my fav. winter accessories. I am known for wearing tights with boots, skirts and dresses. I just can’t get enough of them. Most of my tights are quite worn though so I need a few new pairs this season.

8. PJ’s. I desperately need some warm PJ’s because it is freezing in our house and I think I may get frostbite one morning.

Your lunch looks delicious! Are clementines the same as mandarins? I’ve never seen them before in Oz.

I totally agree on the necessity of a good blender – my Mum got me one for my last birthday. Best. Present. Ever.

For Christmas with my family, we ditched the present giving a few years ago because a) it was stressful, b) it was expensive and with a few of us having just left our jobs to go back to full time study we didn’t have a lot of spare cash and c) we have pretty much everything we need (not necessarily all we want though!). Now, we all put some money together and get a family present from TEAR Australia (usually the school as we’re all teachers or training to be teachers – http://www.usefulgifts.org/gift/community-school) or something from Oxfam – http://www.oxfamunwrapped.com.au/

It takes all the stress out of Christmas and we still feel good on the day! :-)

Great list!

My parents bought me a new-to-me car for Christmas. Given that I grew up poor as dirt, I know they had to save and sacrifice a lot in order to do so…so I want nothing else. From anyone. If someone really needs to give me a gift they can buy something for my parents instead. :P

Hi Angela,
I’ve had a Vitamix blender for several years now, that I’m very happy with. The price was very steep though. You might want to consider a Breville blender. I’ve never tried it, but I absolutely love my Breville citrus press and fountain elite juicer. Even Martha Stewart owns the Breville Ikon juicer. So, I think Breville is a quality brand. Hope this helps. :)

Great list! Love the pics :)

My wish list would include a Vita-Mix, for sure, but I know that is SO not happening until I save up for one and buy it myself!

I’m hoping for some gift certificates for the Running Room, and maybe a few more Raw cookbooks!

Hi Angela,
If mean for Kale in your green monsters yes it totally works!

It’s not good for food processor type things, but as a blender it’s fantastic!! The even have a new “platinum” edition that has some cool attachments and cups!!

I love clementines too–they’re one of my favorite foods!

My wishlist:
-a Vancouver Fit membership, to help me train for the 2010 Portland Marathon
-a Cricuit machine + cartridges (I saw some in the Black Friday ads.. I might not be able to resist!)
-a nice waterproof running jacket (any suggestions?)
-a new phone (Samsung Moment)
-a Garmin GPS watch

Gadget wise I would like a new MP4 player because I’ve had my one for nearly 5 years now and it has served me well (godsend on my train commute!) and I can’t help feel it’s going to give up on me anytime soon. It’s working fine but on the day it stops working I think I’ll have a panic attack because it will take ages to replace…oh no even thinking about it is making me feel panicky (tragic!). I could also do with a new HRM but really I need to just get my current one fixed but it involves posting it to England with receipts and all that jazz…so my real wish is that I would just go and POST IT!!

I want new dishes for my kitchen because all of the ones I have are chipped. In fact I want a new kitchen but that is on the “long term wish list” as I’ve only lived in my house 2 years and it was brand new when we moved in!

I’m pregnant this Christmas, so my wishlist does not contain any clothing of any sort, that’s for sure!

Topping it is a juicer and many self indulgent items like bath products and massage coupons.

I love my Breville blender I got last year. It would have broken the bank to buy at Best Buy ($250 CAD), but I used my Airmiles points and got it for free! Best money I never spent.

Have you tried Cusinart yet? I own a Kitchen Aid stand mixer (which can not be matched by anything) but for all of my other small appliances, I have Cusinart. I have not had any issues with any of them.

For the hair dryer…I have BaByliss Thermal Ionic dryer. I have a friend who is licensed and she got it for a decent price at the local beauty supply store.

My Christmas wish list: a new central vac, new PJ’s and a gift certificate to the car detailing shop (the kids have wrecked my cars upholstery!)

I had the same problem with the same blender as you! I know have this one and it was well worth the expense!
Do youe every watch Grocery Bags on Slice? Its a Canadian show and they recommended this one! Its a Breville Ikdon Diecast. http://www.sears.ca/product/breville-ikon-750-watt-blender/11812810?ptag=1

I got mine here for a good deal and free shipping! http://forumappliances.com/i-1904-Breville_Blender.html

It was on sale once for crazy cheap at Sears! Keep an eye out! I’ve also heard good things about Krupps blender but don’t know personally.

I think it’s time for you to join the big leagues and get the Vitamix. Refurbished WITH a free shipping coupon they’re $400 (American). I use mine every day if not twice a day. It will change your life. I do not throw money around, but I’m telling you it’s worth every penny. Look for it in Costco around the holidays but I wouldn’t pay over $400 when you don’t have to!

Hope Santa brings you everything you ask for!

For myself, I’d like more time. If someone could wrap that up, that’d be priceless!

Blender: You can’t go wrong with a Vita-Mix, it is pricey, but dang, it’s a MACHINE! This thing will NOT let you down. Plus you pretty much use a blender more than anyone I’ve ever seen so it’s a good investment.

Blackberry: I just got the BB Curve in Lavender. I LOVE it. Check it out!

Phone Headset: Check out blue toothear pieces, small and convinient.

Tray: Check out Winners, they always have things like that in stock!

Love the blog:)

Do you make any glo-bars with pomegranate?
I made a bunch of muffins this week with pomegranate seeds. Blend them with apple sauce. Pretty easy to work with. Thought of you and your glo bars.
CHEERS :)

I have the Oster Fusion blender and I LOVE it. It will blend nearly anything and it’s only $70 USD. I’ve never used a Vitamix but I would guess that this blender blends nearly as well, it is incredible!

AGS November 26, 2009

-nice dress watch
-Brooks running sneakers
-black suit (current 2 are looking old)
-an extra hour in each day (ha!)

I use an Oyster blender and it is very good (especially for the price). My aunt has a Vitamix and she loves it (has loved it for about 8 years — with 3 kids — so it’s a strong appliance).

I just read your post and thought about where the vegan thanksgiving was…then I remembered you are Canadian and shared that last month. I blame my lack of sleep.

My Christmas list consists of:
1. Pink Bunny Footie PJ’s (Hunni got me these)
2. More music loaded on my iPod for running
3. Better headphones for running.
4. Garmin Forerunner
5. EA active for Wii (momma is getting me this)
6. New running shoes

I’m sure I have more but I’m planning a post on this for myself.

Looks like a wonderful lunch! I love clementines too and think they are much better and fun to eat than oranges. Very excited to try your bars!
I’d like an iphone arm band and headphones that won’t fall out of my ears, some kind of polar running/cycling trainer and of course any new kitchen gadget!

Hi Angela,

I like your blog so much, I identify with your profession story a lot. Thanks for sharing =o)

I see that you want a good blender. Look this amazing special of a vitamix: http://www.vitamix.com/household/infocenter/specials.asp

I recieved it yesterday and I finally bought one!! The price is soo good!! I thought I would have to wait until next year to have a new blender, but my Thanksgiving & Christmas gift is on its way! Yey!

Thanks for share so much with all of us and keep glowing!

My latest hairdryer is a Conair Ion shine – I think it was $25 at Walmart. It’s supposed to reduce static & frizz with the ion technology. I’ve had this thing for about 6 months now and I can vouch for it reducing the frizzyness…plus, it dries my long hair on low in minutes, so that’s a plus.

On my Xmas list? Slap Chop (let’s talk about my nuts!), anything Bon Jovi (I’m a bit of a fanatic), jammies, slippers, La Senza and/or Reitmans gift cards, and the new Judith Finlayson slow cooker cookbook.

Angela,

I finally broke down and bought a Vitamix blender a few years ago, and it was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. Considering how often you use your blender, I would totally recommend it. It’s an investment, for sure– but a worthy one, I think!

Reply

I have this blender and love it: http://www.amazon.com/Oster-BPST02-B-Professional-Blender-Black/dp/B000FBLQLG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1259295638&sr=1-5.

On my Christmas list is just money, though I’m not sure if I’ll get it. Unemployed + bills = need money more than sweet kitchen appliances (my dream one being a juicer) :)

Hi Angela,

I have to agree with everyone else, I invested in a VitaMix YEARS ago, and I know it will be with me for a LONG time. It is most definitely worth it, and so are you!! :) :) as a daily user I have never had problems, from green monsters to nut butters! I tell people it will blend rocks! :)

Happy Holidays to you!

You should get a blender from Costco – ours from there has lasted FOREVER and you can blend anything in it!!!

My wish list has:

1) A bunch of books
2) Those same serving trays from costco, plus a few more from there, and the cheese board from there.
3) A karaoke machine!
