your birthday is the day before mine! all good people are born in may (my fiance’s birthday is the week before mine) :-)
and i’m 5 4 1/2 too but i say 5’5″ because the average woman is 5’4″… and i like to pretend i’m above average!

haha…sometimes I am 5’4″ when measured but I refuse to believe it! I always say 5′ 4 AND A HALF!

I used to be so much better at spelling before the days of spell check. Damn computers!

I am really short, too – about 5’1″ – and clear about 5’5 with my heels. Or higher. :)

Ah I love this, Angela! My favorite class was always creative writing, too. My middle school was divided based on specializations, and my “major” was creative writing! I just found a HILARIOUS love poem I wrote about my 6th grade crush the other day. I definitely plagiarized Christina Aguilera for two lines of it… Woops haha

Fun post!! Do your 2 different length legs affect your running?

I’m a Taurus too, and totally fit the mold! Stubborn, practical, etc. etc.

I never hit snooze! I’d rather have a deep sleep til I have to get up, and I only make my bed now because I live in a studio apartment and my bed is the center of my apartment!! It makes me feel so much better :)

Reply

20 Angela (Oh She Glows) September 30, 2009

Yes I think my legs being different lengths is a result of some of my knee pain. I got orthotics and the doc told me that.

21 Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope September 30, 2009

What a fun post Angela!

– SOOOO with you on keeping your desk clean… it feels so nice to clean it off and get it organized, but it only last a day or two for me. ;)

– Haha, yes camping is definitely not my idea of a vacation. Although I have to admit my uncle and aunt used to have this INSANE camper that was 2 floors, had a full kitchen, a lazy boy recliner, and a flat screen TV. That, I could probably live with. ;)

– I don’t even know how snooze works. I have never even tried pushing it before!

I’m the opposite with the snooze. I purposely set it about 15-30 minutes before I need to get up so I can hit the snooze. Hunni hates it!

I always add the extra .5 inch to make myself 5’6″ :-)

I’m a super neat freak but my desk does not reflect it. I have piles all over of stuff to get done. I try to clean it once a day but it just goes back. I guess that shows I work hard? ;-)

YES! Spelling beers. I loved them. Why don’t they do more adult spelling bees? There was a trend in Milwaukee for bars to have spelling bees all the time, and it was funny because of course the more you have to drink, the worse at spelling you become.

I sang second soprano in school :-)

Oh man, I love these kinds of surveys! Here’s a few about me:

I majored in English and can’t spell. Seriously, I initially spelled “surveys” wrong.

I have the wrong size top for my bottom. I’m pear-shaped right down to my tiny hands and big (size 10!!) feet!

I’m on the verge of huge life changes and I feel scared out of my mind about them… in the best possible way :)

I don’t want a dog, but I complain bitterly to my husband that I don’t have one. If he ever gave in I’d be in serious trouble.

I believe in fate and often think it’s what gets me through tough times. I feel like everything happens for a reason, and if things are meant to be, they’ll be.

I’m 5’7 but feel short compared to my 6’4 hubby and brother-in-law and 6’5 brother.

So fun!

Here are just 10 things about me it’s unlikely anyone knows:
1. I write a To-Do list for the following day every night before I go to bed
2. I’ve been on acne medication for over a year now
3. I smoked for a week at primary school because I desperately wanted the “cool kids” to like me. I almost got expelled for it.
4. I worked as a volunteer for 6 months at the local SPCA
5. I’m really not as bad at maths as I’ve made out to be
6. I love debating and delivering impromptu debate speeches
7. I don’t straighten my hair, I was blessed with naturally dead straight hair.
8. I had to learn how to sing, I wasn’t born with the talent
9. I have a major soft spot for tiny dogs
10. English is, has and always will be my best subject. I get excellences on everything. It’s the only subject I’m 110% confident with.

Anyway! Thanks for letting me share that :) great post! I’m off to pump some iron with strength training at the gym now. Have a great day!

Reply

57 Kristilyn (singer-songwriter) September 30, 2009

Very cute!

I’ve never won any spelling bees, but I’ve been told I’m an excellent speller. I’m ALWAYS the chosen one when that comes up in Cranium.

That’s too funny that you don’t like camping! I love hotels way too much … beds are just way better than the ground. And bathrooms are key to a good holiday!

I’ve also grown out of touch with a lot of friends, though I sometimes attribute it to us moving on to different goals. Or moving to different cities!

That’s awesome that you had an accent in the states! I assume you’ve taken on the typical Canadian accent now? Though, being a Canadian, I’m STILL not sure what that means. I know I don’t sound like a Newfie …

Randomness about me:

1. I was once an extra in a Christmas-Horror movie called Santa’s Slay. It was freezing the day we had to shoot.

2. Deep down, I love to clean. I could stay at home and organize my house, cleaning every surface until my fingers pruned. Unfortunately, I don’t pay well.

3. I spend way too much money and can only last being frugal for a few months at a time. At that point, it’s time to spend, spend, spend!

4. I once won a handbell composition contest with a piece called, ‘Rondo.’ Me, being the uber-shy person, was quite embarrassed to be introduced as the composer whenever my handbell group played it.

5. My dogs know me as ‘Mummy.’ They also enjoy greeting me after a workout – apparently, they have a liking for salt.

6. I love living in Canada and having the seasons. If I lived in Texas, I think I would go crazy. I hate driving in the snow, but I love watching it fall (and playing in it, of course.).

7. I am addicted to music and have close to 15,000 songs on my iTunes.

8. When I was younger, a friend and I had one of those “I love you man!” moments with a bottle of alcohol, on a swing set in a park. We then finished the night dancing the swing underneath a disco ball in her living room. Probably one of my “first ever hangovers”.

9. I like to preach about eating non-processed foods, but I sometimes sneak some into my diet. I just can’t get enough of Peanut Butter & Co., Sahale nuts, or miscellaneous Annie’s stuff. But I do try at least 80% of the time to eat wholesome, good food.

10. When I was born, my name was Sheena. My parents then adopted me, changing my name. When we got a dog, she got my birth name. It’s slightly odd, but what can you do?

Sorry for the novel!

I am the opposite in terms of bed making and desk cleaning. I make my bed (i.e. fluff up the down comforter over the messy sheets) every morning. It gives me peace of mind. So does the clean desk thing; clutter aggravates me! How about I come clean your desk and you can repay me in Green Monsters and Glo Bars!?? :)

Hi Angela!

Came across your blog & I love it! Wow, you never hit the snooze button?!?! HOW do you do that? That’s a superwoman trait I wish I had! I set 3 alarms and snooze my way through them all. I need to set my first alarm about 2 hours before I absolutely HAVE to get up…that’s so bad!

It’s hard to believe that you’re shy, since you’re so open about yourself on the blog. I’m shy too… there are certain situations that just make me freeze up. I wish I could get over it but sometimes it feels more like a physiological response than a psychological one. Also hard to believe you were a troublemaker in high school!

At several points in my life, my dream was to become a veterinarian. More than halfway through university I decided my passion for languages was greater than my passion for science, and now I work as a translator. Another thing about me—I am extremely jealous of people who seem to pick up new languages very easily.

Since feet have been a recurring topic—I’m 5’3” and wear a 9 or 9.5. But I’m kind of proud of my big feet :-).

Oh! And I won a lot of spelling bees. I came in 2nd in our state one time too. Haha, too funny.
