Check out this picture I found on the website last night! At the finish line…I actually sprinted and caught up to these three people.
Note:
I wasn’t anywhere near this pack!
HARD CORE!!!!!!!!!
By the way, that wasn’t all the food I had yesterday!
There was more…
I ended up eating the rest of this Optimum bar!
It was just kinda sitting there….so…
In my belly it went! Nothing was safe near me yesterday!
I didn’t care for it much. Actually, I scraped off the icing and ate it plain. It was better without it. :) I gobbled that up and was still hungry before bed, so I had a few handfuls of cereal. I couldn’t believe it but when I went to bed I was still hunrgy! But, then I passed out from exhaustion. Eric was like, ‘I’m super hungry too’…lol…like I said, the spectator sport is HARD work! He slept for 4 hours yesterday afternoon! bahaha.
I can’t believe it, but I’m barely, barely sore at all today! This is absolutely mind-blowing to me because I am typically always sore after long runs, and I was very sore after my 10k race last month. I think my pre-and post race nutrition plus immediate and continued stretching throughout the day yesterday REALLY helped! I think I stretched about 5 times yesterday and then a long one in bed before I hit the hay. :) Stretching rocks!!!
This morning, I wanted to celebrate my race with a fun new Green Monster, I’d like to call
Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bomb Green Monster
Ingredients:
- 1/2 serving PC extra-firm organic tofu
- 3 cups steamed spinach (I made a big batch yesterday and put it in a glass pyrex dish)
- 1 T PC Just Peanuts Peanut Butter
- 1 T cocoa powder
- 1/2 T carob powder
- 1/2 scoop Amazing Grass Chocolate infusion powder
- 1 cup PC low-fat soy milk
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 cubes ice
- 1/2 T coconut oil
- 1 T chia seeds
- 1 small banana
Wow was this GM ever amazing!!! I felt like I was sipping on the smoothest, most luxurious drink ever. It was creamy, creamy, creamy! It actually made more than in the glass below and I quickly chugged it back straight out of the blender. ;)
I’ve got a crazy busy day of orders today (about 6!) so I need to get cracking in the kitchen.
Thank you to everyone for your congrats on my race!!! You all rock!
Have a great day!
I have learned about and become more aware of the food I am putting in my body. Sometimes, I would think something, such as peanut butter, is all natural, but some types are not. I have learned to really start paying attention to ingredients and question where the food came from. I know that I want to incorporate more “real” food in my diet and less fake food. I feel so much better overall when I eat “real” and natural food. What a difference it makes!!
I read that eating spinach, which is packed with lutein, protects against vision loss as you age!
ahh fun giveawayyy :) i’ve learned that the way you eat/workout/live has to be completely customized to YOU. you can’t do exactly what everyone else is doing, you need to figure out what works the best for your own body and you will be MUCH happier!
I have learned so many things about nutrition, but the most important thing I have leaned recently is how to ask for help when I need it. I have spent the last year trying to battle my ED alone, aand I have only recently found some relief through therapy and a 12-step program.
Thanks for the positivity Angela!
Spectating is very hard work. I always feel so bad for my boyfriend having to get up early and just sit around waiting for me to finish my race. He is always caring a lot of stuff around – my flip flops, some food for me after, water, camera, etc. I tell him that I would not want to switch places. Luckily, he doesn’t want to either! ;)
Congrats!!!
I’ve learned it’s okay to eat full fat foods in moderation. I eat a scoop of almond butter almost daily. It was a hard concept for me to grasp for a while that full fat cheese, nuts, yogurts, and peanut butter were okay to eat and I didn’t always have to opt for the tasteless, nonfat options.
I’ve learned that I feel better when eating whole foods, mostly vegetables, protein, and carbs (in that order). Makes me feel so much better.
Also learned that you have to boil spinach to get many of the nutrients out. I knew you had to do that with swiss chard, but I didn’t know it also applied to other leafy greens.
I’ve learned that being healthy and nutritious isn’t about boring food or giving up the fun part of life. It’s about incorporating everything, but in moderation. There are so many healthy alternatives out there that taste amazing. I’ve also learned that it is not going to happen on it’s own, and you must make a conscious effort to work out and make good decisions. Even just taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
Also-I have loved learning about all the nuts and seeds you incorporate in your meals for a little added bonus. Chia seeds, flax, hemp. I never knew that stuff existed before! I’m not eating flax in my breakfast all the time!
I have learned that when it comes to making changes in my fitness routine and incorporating new and different foods into my diet, slow and steady is way more effective than “it had to be done yesterday.” Blogs like yours have helped me keep my type-‘a’ attitude from getting me discouraged!
I’ve learned not to watch the scale, but to go by how I feel and other little goals. Like sweating 5 times a week. Also everything I do has to be fun, or it will not be done.
I have learned about hemp and chia seeds, which are my new favorite topping to sprinkle on salads! :)
Wow, what haven’t I learned from your blog lately? Let me count the ways: green monsters (wow, they’re good! and good for you!), wheat berries in salads (YUMMO, I’m loving this combo), and chia seeds (have to pick some up and try them out!). Thanks for the blog!
Also, I love the new print option!!
I have learned that it’s OK to eat what you like, as long as it’s in moderation. Sometimes I take a little bite of that cookie as extra mental fuel to go kick butt in my workout!
I’ve learned to forgive myself when I think I’ve messed up and gone off the deep end with eating because if I don’t, then I do more harm than good. That slice or two of cake isn’t the end of the world, but beating myself up can be detrimental. I also learned that weight lifting rocks my life!
i’ve learned that even a 20 minute walk can burn a lot of calories after purchasing a health rate monitor! calorieking.com has really opened my eyes to how much i intake, and the amount of exercise that i need to do in order to fit into my jeans again!!
I learned that citrus fruits actually have an alkaline effect in the body – who knew?
I am learning that my body is much happier with real food rather than the 100 calorie packs full of chemicals I was eating! Thanks for your great, uplifting, positive blog!
I’ve learned that interval training can help me bust through a plateau and increase my overall fitness. I’ve been incorporating them into my treadmill routines, and not only is it effective, it’s fun too!
I learned that the average person gets way too much protein, and that if I make sure I’m eating a varied diet (an consume enough calories), I will have no problem meeting my needs!
I’ve learned that 100 calorie packs are not as good as they seem. I used to buy them every time I would go to the grocery store – and since your post on them, I haven’t purchased a single package!! And the fibre in fruit leaves me WAY more satisfied!!
