Kitchen Kraziness

Yup, self-affirmations still going strong!! :D Thanks Caitlin!

Your comments last night were incredible and inspiring to read! What a pick me up!

Did anyone else get a little teary eyed when watching the video? I admit I did!

I can’t wait until I leave the house today. I am going to leave a few messages around town. *evil cackle*

food

As I mentioned in yesterday afternoon’s post, I am selling my Glo Bakery goodies in a market this Saturday!! So what I thought was going to be a catch up week has turned into another crazy baking week! :D

Yesterday I spent the entire day baking and today and tomorrow I will be doing the same!

I made Part 1 of my Gl’oreos:

IMG_3529

I can’t get over how much the cookie tastes like the chocolate cookie from actual Oreos! It is a dead ringer!

IMG_3534

Part 2 will be the filling (healthified) of course!

Then I made 200 of my On The Glo Bars. Although these OTG bars had a twist! A crispy twist!!

IMG_3550 IMG_3573

After I pulled out all the ingredients and got everything ready, I realized that I was almost out of oats!!! What’s a gal to do?

I decided to sub some of the oats with cereal- rice crisp cereal!!

I used 1 cup oats and 1 cup of rice crisp cereal instead of 1.5 cups of oats.

The result was nothing short of sheer perfection:

IMG_3565

A Light and airy delight.

IMG_3566

The rice crisp cereal made these bars VERY light. They aren’t dense like the other ones. I would prefer these lighter bars for small snacks and the other ones when I am looking for more substance and energy!

IMG_3569

In other batches, I added chocolate chips!!

Which, to my delight, melted when I added the brown rice syrup mixture!!

IMG_3561 IMG_3556

I LOVE the chocolate ones!!!

IMG_3560

My mother in law is OBSESSED with these new bars!! She just can’t get enough of them! :D

She has a HUGE tab adding up I tell you…bahaha.

Another day, another Amazing Grass Green Monster:

IMG_3515

In today’s mix:

  • 1/3 cup pumpkin
  • 1 slice extra firm organic tofu
  • 1.5 cup Almond Milk
  • 3 organic kale leaves
  • 1/2 ripe frozen banana
  • ice
  • Amazing Grass Wheat Grass powder

These ingredients made 1.5 of these cups! So good!

I  love that they don’t put a bunch of crap in the powders. It is all natural, organic, and vegan. BOO-YAH.

GOOD NEWS to my fellow Canadians! Amazing Grass products will be available in Canadian WHOLE FOODS stores this August 2009!

Also, if you decide to purchase AG online, just enter ‘ohsheglows’ at the checkout and get 15% OFF! Big thanks to Teri! :)

Here is what I have decided to bake for the market Saturday:

  1. Mini sweet loaves (TBD- either banana blueberry walnut bread or my Pumpkin apple raisin)
  2. On The Glo Bars (~200)
  3. Skinni-mini Glo buns
  4. Glo’nuts
  5. Gl’oreos
  6. Mini muffins (Time pending)

I also need to:

  • Prepare signage
  • Business cards
  • magnets
  • Ingredient list
  • Nutritional info

2 days left!!! Never a dull moment around this household…

See you this afternoon for:

  • WHO in my circle of family and friends is starting up a BLOG! You won’t believe who it is and what the blog is going to be about! Any guesses?
  • Am I chopping my hair off?? Find out…

Ok, I just have to say that I am totally impressed by that leaning tower of cookies. Haha, that seriously amazed me.

ANYWHO, what a great idea with the bars!!! I just love different textures in bars, so it will be nice to have the two recipes to play around with.

Good luck with all the work you have to get done before Saturday. I’m sure it will all turn out amazing! :)

Yummy, I had wondered if you would be doing anything with “puffed grain” cereals… they are so light and crunchy! I like to add them to yogurt for a bit of crunch sometimes. Have you tried varieties other than rice? I’m keen on Puffed Kamut and Puffed Millet (the millet has a fun texture)!

Had my first DELICIOUS green monster on Wednesday (after buying my Kitchen Aid blender (from Caynes and ON SALE!!).

LOVE IT (both the monster and the blender)!

Also – great news about the Amazing Grass – cannot wait until they get then at Whole Foods because they look to be delightful additions to the smoothies…

Angela,

That’s so funny that you added pumpkin to your monster..I have a modified one sitting in the fridge for tomorrow morning and some freezing in the freezer…I love pumpkin.

I love the affirmations. Keep them going. I am taking mine to Darwin Australia and Timor with me :)

Oh man, I’m going to have to try those krispy glo bars, yum! And I may just have to order some AG now, woo-hoo! I just love your site, you seem so technically advanced. Do you mind me asking how you do your site, do you code? I have a new logo and the ideas of a new site, but my fiancee (who is pretty good at computers) is too busy to set it up, and I’m just retarded when it comes to sites like this. I just love yours, it’s so user friendly, but still has a ton of great information. Thanks! and happy baking :)

The more and more I read about and see photos of the food for the bakery, the more I wish you lived near me!!! Get Glow Bakery big enough and you can start expanding! DC definitely has a market for a healthy bakery!

hi angela – i’ve been reading your blog for a couple months now and just decided to comment today. I think you are a FABULOUS inspiration. You really got me away from being obsessed with counting calories/determining my happiness based on the scale. I haven’t counted calories in months and only weight myself once a month now because it no longer matters to me. You made me realize that if I am hungry my body needs fuel – just like a car :) so I just really wanted to say thank you!! My peace with food/weight was largely influenced by you :)

now those cookies just look great!!

Can’t wait to see who the new blogger is…I think either Eric, your mom, or your sister but my bet is on your mom. :) Hmm or Eric, his post was well-received.

Yes where are you selling this weekend? Is it in the GTA? I would love to come buy your stuff :)

Don’t chop your hair, I did mine a while ago and I really miss my long hair. I think Eric would be a great blogger, on his meals all about meat, the way to a man’s heart!

Mom who shops with the kids

I think there is an epidemic of people not understanding food lables. I would love to see this taught in health class to the kids so that they can make informed healthy choices. They need to learn calories are good in the right amount and from the right foods. The preaching this and that or thinking they will learn from what you feed them does not work. The freshmen 15 is proof. Mothers and fathers need to teach kids about food more today then any time in history. Lables are a mistery and so easy to misunderstand. We need to take our kids shopping and read the lables with them so they learn how to do it. Calories are a part of it but really only a part. They need to learn portion size and learn about the fats, sugars and salt and learn that because it tells them that it is reduced sodium doesn’t mean that it is a good product and so on.
Knowledge is power and with power comes enlightenment!
