2008 In Review: Part 1

January 1, 2009

Good evening everyone!

Eric and I just got back from seeing Marley & Me at the theatre. It was sooo sad. But I knew it would be going into it because I read the book.

Like most books made into movies, I thought the book was much better; however, the movie was still pretty good. I thought they could have done a bit beter job playing up the funny moments and also developing the plot and characters. The movie also left us quite sad and drained feeling! I hate when movies do that. I just feel kind of blah right now. Not sure if that is more from the movie or from the fact that I have to go into work tomorrow! lol.

Oh well, it’s only a 1 day workweek until my weekend. :D

In this afternoon’s post, I promised you all a 2008 photo recap! Seeing as it is late and I still have laundry to do, I am going to start it tonight and then finish it off tomorrow.

I got this awesome idea from the lovely Meghann!

Christmas 2007, Eric and I announced our engagement to our families at Christmas…

(Yes, Eric is a 6’2″ giant! LOL)

In February, we welcomed a new niece and a nephew only 1 week apart

In March, we frolicked outside in the snow to take a break from wedding planning and my Master’s thesis stress:

In April we expanded our photography skills with Eric’s Canon 30D Digital SLR

We also had a great Easter…I made my first pie ever

img_6432

My love for running also ‘took off’

img_6736

And I started my first official career as a researcher (while still a full time Master’s student!)

In May, I celebrated my 25th birthday with great friends…

And got a little tipsy…:D

img_7038

I also got my first KitchenAid Mixer…

img_7108

And a romantic dinner with my fiance

img_7120

In June, we spend a great weekend at Eric’s parents place on the water. We had good food…

img_7548

And I was also thrown into the water by Eric’s brother, jewellry and all!

img_74711

In July, we had a blast doing our engagement shoot with our photographer…

We twirlled and laughed and fell almost peeing ourselves laughing.

Sketchie’s obsession for big boxes grew and grew…

And I got another fabulous cookbook…

To be continued tomorrow….

What was your most memorable moment of 2008???

Sleep tight everyone! Hope your start to the new year was a hit!

Hi, I just dropped by your blog through another website. Anyway, is that a Bengal cat you have? I have been thinking about adopting a Bengal cat, are they easy to deal with compared to other cats?

P.S Your cat is extremely adorable!

Great 2008! It’s funny that you say Sketchie likes big boxes b/c my cat likes tiny boxes. He is a huge and fluffy 17-pound Persian and tries to fit into the smallest boxes possible. It’s quite funny when his fur is spilling out the edges.

My most memorable moment of ’08? Touching Jon Bon Jovi as he walked past me at the ACC on March 13th. I even got a smile and a wink out of him…swoon! I have been a Bon Jovi fan since I was 6 years old (24 years and counting!) so that was a huge thrill for me (and it’s not like the man is hard to look at, lol). Here’s to a fabulous 2009!

Love the pics! Love the blog! So cute – thanks for sharing!! My most memorable 2008 moment was easy – getting married! Other than that – it was finding my love for cooking and exercising again (hence losing 18 pounds). Great year!

Wonderful photos and memories! This year I made several photo collages for family as Christmas gifts of a few memorable moments of the last year (lots of work, but so much fun to remember!). My husband and I agreed that this year has been extremely difficult because of all the changes we’ve dealt with. . . but the photos and memories of our friends reminded us of how good this year really has been.

I saw Marley and Me last night too! I read the book so I kept getting teary eyed because I knew what was coming. lol I agree the book was better but everything is good with Jennifer Anniston.

It looks like you’ve had a great year…hopefully 2009 will be even better!

Love the photo recap! Thanks for sharing! My best memory of 2008 was running my first 1/2 marathon. Never thought that would happen and now I’m training for my second! I would have to say that picking up and moving across the country ties for second. :) Happy 1 day work week!

I just saw Marley and Me last night and both my boyfriend and I (although he doesn’t want me to tell anyone!) were bawling at the end.
